TALLAHASSEE, Fl. – Virginia women’s soccer second-year forward Alyssa Benitez (Lake Mary, Fl./ Lake Mary) scored an unassisted goal at 88:37 to propel the Cavaliers to a 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference win over Florida State Saturday night (October 28).
After outshooting Florida State and producing twice as many shots on goals, the Cavaliers finally broke through with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
Benitez’ goal marks the second time in two games that she has scored the game winner. She also scored the match-clinching goal in last Saturday’s (October 21) 4-3 upset of Duke.
