University of Virginia midfielder Katie Tracy (Richmond, Va./ James River High School), who completed her eligibility during the Fall 2000 season, was chosen as the fifth overall pick in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) supplemental draft by the New York Power. Tracy will attend the team’s pre-season camp from Mar. 1 – April 1. The team will make a decision about whether to sign her to a contract for the inaugural season during that time period. The New York Power kicks off its season on Saturday, April 21, 2001.

Tracy served as a co-captain of the 2000 Cavaliers. She notched 18 goals and 13 assists during her career at Virginia and started every one of the 84 games that she played in during her four years as a Cavalier. Tracy is a three-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region selection, and was a Second-Team All-ACC pick in 2000. She was a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll for 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Tracy is currently completing her fourth year of eligibility on the Virginia women’s basketball team. She is a reserve guard and a co-captain for the Cavaliers.
