UVa's Ashley Meeker Chosen for Soccer America Team of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – University of Virginia women’s soccer player Ashley Meeker (Zanoni, Va./ Hampton Roads Academy) was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week as chosen by Soccer America magazine. Meeker earned the honor for her play during the week of September 17-23. The senior midfielder scored two goals and tallied one assist during that stretch for the No. 14 Cavaliers.

Meeker, who played defense for Virginia last season before moving to midfield this season, scored both of UVa’s goals in a 2-0 Cavalier victory over Atlantic Coast Conference rival N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C. She then assisted on Virginia’s only goal in a 1-1 tie at Florida.

Meeker’s two goals against the Wolfpack matched her previous career total. She led the team in assists last season with five. Meeker is currently third on the team in points with six so far this season.
