CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The University of Virginia women’s soccer team travels to Clemson, S.C. this weekend for a Saturday (September 29) matchup with Clemson. The Cavaliers are looking for their second Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season against the Tigers. UVa defeated N.C. State, 2-0, in its first conference game.

Virginia is just 3-7 all time against Clemson, including a 2-1 overtime loss to the then-second-ranked Tigers one year ago Saturday, on September 29, 2000. Just like last year, UVa is ranked 14th heading into Saturday’s match, while Clemson is ranked 15th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

The Cavaliers and the Tigers have a history of playing close games. Two of the 10 games in the all-time series were decided in overtime, while eight of the 10 matchups were decided by one goal. Neither team has scored more than three goals in any game during the series.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Riggs Field.
