Charlottesville, Va. – With the UVa women’s soccer team awaiting its third-round NCAA match with Cincinnati, two of its members look to add to the list of individual honors the team has landed this season.

Lori Lindsey has been named a finalist for SoccerBuzz’ Player of the Year. The senior from Indianapolis, Ind., is second on the team with 21 points, which matches her point-total from last year. She was most recently named as the ACC Player of the Year for a second year in a row, joining Mia Hamm as the only other player to do so. Lindsey is also a finalist for the Hermann and Missouri Athletic Club Awards. Her 71 career points is the seventh-highest total in school history, while her 31 goals are sixth most.

Lindsey was named to Soccer America’s Team of the Week and Soccer Buzz’ Elite Eight earlier this season. In addition to her ACC Player-of-the-Year honor for a second year in a row, Lindsey was also a first-team All-ACC selection , concluding her career with three trips to the All-ACC team.

Lindsay Gusick added to her season totals with her 14th goal of the season, in a 4-1 victory over William & Mary. In addition to leading the team with 14 goals, her 30 points this season is the sixth-highest single-season total. She is also the fourth player in UVa history to score at least 30 points in a season. Her 14 goals are the third-highest in school history, joining Angela Hucles as the only individuals to score 14 goals in a season. Six of those 14 this season have been game-winners.

Gusick was also named to Soccer America’s Team of the Week twice, and also made it to Soccer Buzz’ Elite Eight once. She earned ACC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 22, was a second-team All-ACC selection and made the ACC All-Rookie team.
