Brandi Teamer Named ACC Rookie of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C – For the fifth time this season, Virginia women’s basketball player Brandi Teamer (Joliet, Ill.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the ACC announced on Monday.
In Virginia’s only contest on the week, Teamer recorded her 11th career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes of action in the 61-57 win over N.C. State on Sunday.
The All-America candidate leads the ACC in double-double performances with 11. She also is the conference’s top rebounder with 9.1 rpg.
After 21 games, Teamer stands second in team scoring with 15.5 ppg. In ACC games only, she is the team leader with 18.3 ppg and 9.5 rpg. She has started all 21 games as a true freshman.
The ACC honor is the fifth of Teamer’s collegiate career.
The Cavaliers (12-9, 5-5) travel to Clemson on Thursday, Feb. 7 for a 7 p.m. game at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Virginia Sports Radio Network will broadcast the game live with Jed Williams calling the action and Myron Ripley providing color analysis. The Cavaliers then return home to University Hall on Monday, Feb. 11 for a 7 p.m. game with Georgia Tech on Fox Sports Net South.
