Greensboro, NC – Virginia’s John Christmas was named ACC Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for his performance in leading the Cavaliers to a 12-6 win over top-ranked Johns Hopkins Saturday.

The rookie from Ardmore, Pa., finished the game with a career-high seven points (3g, 4a), the most points by a Cavalier rookie since 1996.

With the game tied at six early in the third quarter, Christmas took over. He had a hand in the next six goals – assisting on four third quarter goals and scoring twice in the fourth – en route to the win.

He got Virginia off to a quick start as he scored the game’s first goal just two minutes in.

Christmas is tied with Conor Gill for the team lead in scoring with 20 points (12g, 8a).

The Cavaliers are currently 5-1 this season and travel to College Park, Md., to face the fifth-ranked Maryland Terrapins Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
