Greensboro, N.C. – The UVa women’s soccer team has been predicted to finish second in theACC this season according to the 2002 preseason coaches poll released today. The Cavaliers finished the 2001 season second place in the ACC with an overall record of 17-4-2, 5-2 in the conference.

The Cavaliers received 57 out of a possible 64 points in the voting, finishing five points behind 2001 NCAA runner-up North Carolina, who was picked to finish first in the conference. Clemson was third, receiving 41 points in the voting.

Top returnees this season include 2001 All-ACC selections Kelly Worden and Lindsay Gusick. Jessica Trainor, who made the ACC All-Freshman team, also returns.

The Cavaliers open the 2002 slate on Aug. 31 as they host St. Joseph’s at Kl?ckner Stadium.
