CHARLOTTESVILLE – David Storm, an administrator in the athletics department at American University since 1995 with primary responsibilities in the area of compliance, has been named director of compliance at the University of Virginia. The announcement was made by UVa Athletics Director Craig Littlepage.

Most recently, Storm was associate director of athletics for compliance and administration at American.

“We are fortunate to have someone like David Storm join our department to help us enhance our compliance efforts,” Littlepage said. “David knows UVa, knows the rules and will be an asset to the athletic department staff and the broader University community.”

Storm earned his bachelor’s degree with a major in government from Virginia in 1991 and his law degree from Villanova University in 1994. He served as a manager with the men’s basketball team during his four years at UVa and was head manager as a senior.

Prior to joining the athletics department at American University in June of 1995, Storm served as document center manager for the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., from October of 1994 to June of 1995.

“I am excited about returning to the University of Virginia and working in the athletics department,” Storm said. “I am impressed with the coaching staff and athletics administration, and their dedication to the total student-athlete and to the University.”

Storm assumes his responsibilities at Virginia on November 18.
