CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Women’s basketball guard Charita Roberts has been released from her National Letter of Intent from the University of Virginia, school officials announced on Monday.

The 5-7 point guard from Winchester, Va., spent the summer session at UVa taking classes. She did not enroll in fall classes. Roberts is now eligible to pursue other educational opportunities and would not have to sit out a year of competition as a transfer.

Roberts transferred to Frederick Douglass HS in Upper Marlboro, Md., for her senior season in 2001-02 where she was a McDonald’s All-American Top 100 finalist.
