Virginia's Josh Etu Named ACC Wrestler Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia wrestler Josh Etu (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Wrestler of the Week. Etu, a fourth-year heavyweight, was one of four UVa wrestlers to record a perfect 3-0 record at the 2003 Virginia Intercollegiate State Wrestling Championships (VISWC) in Lexington, Va. With his performance, Etu won the heavyweight class title and helped guide the Cavaliers to a first place finish as a team in the event. Etu’s three victories improved his record this season to 15-5 overall.
At the 2003 VISWC (January 19), Etu recorded a 3-1 decision over Old Dominion’s Stelios Adractus in his first match before pinning James Madison’s Matt Coffey just 1:07 into his second bout. In the heavyweight championship match, Etu recorded a 9-1 major decision victory over ODU’s Derrell Lorthridge to win the weight class title.
For his career, Etu has wrestled in 82 matches and has a record of 58-24 overall, 16-10 in dual matches. He has won 15 of his 58 career victories by fall.
