CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The nationally-ranked University of Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference foes this weekend at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center. On Saturday (January 25), the Cavaliers will host North Carolina with the men’s meet beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the women’s meet at 4:00 p.m. Virginia closes out a busy weekend by hosting Clemson at 12 noon. The diving competition on Sunday will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Virginia, Clemson and North Carolina have won the last 22 ACC Women’s Championships. In addition, the three schools have claimed the runner-up spot in the last 20 ACC meets. UVa and North Carolina have accounted for the last 10 ACC Men’s Championships and 15 of the last 16 ACC titles.

The Cavalier women, ranked 12th in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll, stand a perfect 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. North Carolina is ranked 11th in the nation and holds a 9-1 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the ACC. Virginia has won three of the last four dual meets against the Tar Heels, including a 156-144 decision last season in Chapel Hill.

The UVa men are ranked ninth in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll and have registered a 4-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in dual meets this season. The Tar Heels are ranked 20th in the country and possess a 6-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the conference. Virginia has won the last three dual meets against North Carolina, including a 189-111 victory last year in Chapel Hill.

The Clemson women’s team is 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the ACC, while the Tiger men are 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference this season. Clemson appears in the “others receiving votes” portion of the men’s CSCAA poll. The Cavalier women have won the last four dual meets against Clemson, while the UVa men have won two consecutive and four of the last five dual meets vs. the Tigers.
