CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s soccer team announced their 2003 spring schedule today. The Cavaliers will compete on six dates during the spring and take on professional, national team, and collegiate opponents.

The Cavaliers start their spring season with a trip to the nation’s capital for a match against the WUSA Founders Cup finalist Washington Freedom at RFK Stadium. The Freedom feature former Cavalier stars Lori Lindsey and Darci Borski on their roster. The following week, the Cavaliers host VCU at Kl?ckner Stadium. On March 30, Virginia will take part at the Kicks for Breast Cancer Tournament in Germantown, Md as they will play the University of Tennessee and the United States U-19 National Team. The Cavaliers return home on April 5 for a game against ACC rival Maryland at the Upper Grass Field, located next to Kl?ckner Stadium. The next weekend, Virginia will travel to Wake Forest to compete at the ACC Spring Tournament before concluding the spring with the akumni game on April 26 at the Upper Grass Field.

“I am excited about our upcoming spring schedule,” states Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. “During this time of year we always try and play the best competition we can find in order to help develop our players and team. The schedule which includes some of the top college teams in the country as well as the Washington Freedom and the U-19 Women’s National Team will go a long way toward getting our young team more experience. This is vital to our preparation for the fall.”

The Cavaliers return 19 players from the 2002 squad that reached the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked No. 17 in the nation.
