CLEMSON, SC – The No. 6 Virginia women’s soccer team concluded the regular season Saturday night with a 2-1 loss at No. 22 Clemson. The loss drops the Cavaliers to 12-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the ACC.

The Tigers (11-5-2, 4-3 ACC) took an early lead as Courtney Foster scored in the third minute of play on assists from Allison Mitchell and Allison Graham. Virginia tied the game in the 15th minute as first-year Shannon Foley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) scored on a penalty kick. The game remained tied into the second half, but the Tigers would retake the lead in the 65th minute as Kelly Schneider scored on assists from Lydia Vandenbergh and Kristen Allen.

Overall, the Tigers outshot Virginia 16-3 in the contest. Anne Abernethy (Atlanta, Ga.) made a season high seven saves for UVa while Lauren Whitt made two for Clemson.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday as play begins at the ACC Tournament at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
