CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia baseball program and head baseball coach Brian O’Connor have announced the 2004 Virginia baseball schedule. The Cavaliers’ 2004 schedule features 56 regular season contests including 29 games to be played at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium. Virginia will begin the regular season portion of its 2004 schedule on February 13-15 in Greensboro, N.C. with a three-game series against North Carolina A&T and will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule with a home game on May 21st against the Richmond Spiders in Charlottesville.

The Brian O’Connor Era will get underway on Friday, February 13th at 2:00 PM when Virginia takes the field against North Carolina A&T in UVa’s season-opener in Greensboro, N.C. Virginia’s home-opener is schedule for Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 PM when the Cavaliers host the Penn State Nittany Lions at Davenport Field at the UVa Baseball Stadium.

Virginia’s ACC home series for 2004 are against North Carolina (March 19-21), Clemson (April 9-11), Florida State (May 7-9) and Wake Forest (May 13-15). UVa’s ACC road series for 2004 are against Georgia Tech (March 12-14), N.C. State (March 26-28), Duke (April 2-4) and Maryland (April 16-18).

The Cavaliers will play a trio of three-game non-conference series against Seton Hall, Central Connecticut State and Miami (Fla.). Virginia will host a three-game series with Seton Hall (February 27-29) and Central Connecticut State (March 5-7) and will play on the road in Coral Gables, Florida against Miami on April 23-25.

UVa will face in-state opponents James Madison, Richmond, William & Mary, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, George Mason, Liberty, Radford and Norfolk State in 2004. The Cavaliers will face James Madison, Virginia Tech, Richmond and Liberty in a home-and-home (one game on the road, one game at home) series during the regular season.

Following the conclusion of Virginia’s regular season, the Cavaliers will compete in the 2004 ACC Baseball Tournament in Salem, Va. from May 25-30 at the Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The NCAA Regionals are scheduled to begin on June 4-6 on campus sites and the College World Series will be held in Omaha, Nebraska on June 18-28.
