CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia baseball players Casey Lambert (Harrisonburg, Va./St. Anne’s Belfield) and Joe Koshansky (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) were named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. Virginia finished the week with a record of 4-1 including a three-game ACC series sweep over the #17 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta, Ga. on March 12-14. The three-game sweep was UVa’s first ever over Georgia Tech in baseball.

The honor for Koshansky is his second this season. He was also named the ACC Player of the Week on February 17.

Lambert, a first-year LHP, was instrumental in guiding the Cavaliers to their three wins against Georgia Tech. He made an appearance in all three games versus the Yellow Jackets picking up one win and a save. Lambert pitched 5.0 innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out four batters. In UVa’s game against Quinnipiac, the Harrisonburg, Va. native struck out two batters in a scoreless inning of relief. For the season, Lambert is 2-0 with one save and has a 1.32 ERA. He has pitched 13.2 innings and has struck out 13 batters while holding opposing hitters to a .208 batting average.

Koshansky, a fourth-year 1B/LHP, posted a .667 slugging percentage and connected on a pair of home runs and a double over the weekend against Georgia Tech. The senior first baseman went on to hit .278 for the week, going 5-for-18 at the plate while recording 10 RBI and scored four runs in leading Virginia to its first-ever, three-game sweep over the Yellow Jackets. The Fairfax, Va. native hit home runs in back-to-back games against Georgia Tech including the game-winner in the Cavaliers 2-1 victory on Saturday. For the season, Koshansky is batting .357 with 25 hits, 29 RBI, 21 runs, 8 home runs, 5 doubles and has a .771 slugging percentage.
