CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s tennis team moved up No. 14 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, marking the highest rank in the program’s history. The Cavaliers have opened the season 15-1 and lead the ACC with a 4-0 conference mark.

The current No. 14 ranking is one place higher than the team’s previous record of No. 15, which the Cavaliers earned in March of 1997.

In addition to the No. 14 team ranking, several individuals are also currently ranked. Second year Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) is No. 21 in this week’s ITA singles rankings and fellow second years Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.) and Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) are No. 14 in this week’s ITA doubles rankings.

Virginia returns to action on Friday, March 26 with a trip to Clemson. The Cavaliers return home on April 3-4 for a pair of top-20 showdowns at the Snyder Tennis Center. On April 3, No. 19 North Carolina visits for a critical ACC match and on April 4, Virginia hosts No. 11 TCU.
