GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team’s first varsity eight crew is the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week for its performance at the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic last weekend (March 27-28) in Redwood City, Calif.

UVa’s first varsity eight crew won two of three races against ranked opponents at the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic. The Cavaliers, ranked seventh in the nation, defeated sixth-ranked Stanford by almost nine seconds and 15th-ranked Washington State by 3.72 seconds. Virginia lost to 11th-ranked California-Berkeley by just over three seconds.

The Cavaliers’ first varsity eight crew at the Windermere Collegiate Crew Classic was comprised of Jennifer Reck, Lindsay Shoop, Beth Clark, Kathryn Waller, Margaret Matia, Sara Lippa, Genevieve Cauchon-Voyer, Melanie Kok and coxswain Betty Shumaker.

The Virginia women’s rowing team returns to action on April 10 when the Cavaliers host Michigan and Ohio State at Lake Monticello.
