Men's Tennis Concludes Action at 2004 NCAA Championship

TULSA, Okla. – Virginia men’s tennis concluded individual action at the 2004 NCAA Championship on Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
In singles action, ninth-ranked Doug Stewart (Malibu, Calif.) fell to Auburn’s Gabor Zoltan Pelva, 6-3, 6-2, in the second round. The sophomore completed the season with a 24-9 singles mark, including 12 wins over players in the NCAA field.
In the first round of doubles action, 21st-ranked Nick Meythaler (Owensboro, Ky.) and Rylan Rizza (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) fell to Benedikt Dorsch and Matija Zgaga, 6-3 6-2, of Baylor, which captured the 2004 national championship team title earlier this week. The duo completed the season with a 20-11 overall record.
The NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship continues until May 31.
