CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head coach Debbie Ryan announced the non-conference portion of the 2004-05 women’s basketball schedule on Friday.

The Cavaliers, who finished last season at 13-16, open the season at Louisiana State’s tournament on Nov. 10-11 in Baton Rouge, La. The four-team tournament will also feature Arizona State and Maine. UVa then travels to Cleveland State on Nov. 19.

Virginia opens the 2004-05 home campaign with Delaware State on Nov. 23. UVa then hosts intrastate rivals Richmond (Nov. 27) and Liberty (Nov. 30).

On Dec. 4-5, the Cavaliers head to Evanston, Ill., for Northwestern’s tournament. Other squads scheduled to compete are Baylor and Houston.

The Cavaliers close out the month of December with four home contests. Cross-state rival Old Dominion visits Charlottesville on Dec. 10. St. Francis comes to town on Dec. 21. Then UVa hosts the Cavalier Classic on Dec. 28-29 in University Hall. Joining the Cavaliers are Albany, American, and James Madison.

On Jan. 2, Virginia hosts South Carolina. The last non-conference game is against Dartmouth on Jan. 23.

“We feel strongly that this is an excellent non-conference schedule,” Ryan said. “There are a lot of very competitive teams on the schedule, with one Final Four participant and several NCAA Tournament teams represented throughout.”

Tip-off times have not yet been determined. The ACC schedule will be announced by the conference office no later than August 15.
