CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia midfielder Sarah Huffman (Flower Mound, Texas) was named ACC Player of the Week conference officials announced Monday. She was recognized for her play in the Cavaliers’ 3-0 win over NC State last week.

Huffman played a vital role in that victory. Offensively, she assisted on two of the Cavaliers’ three goals. Defensively, she helped the Cavalier defense hold the Wolfpack to just two shots while posting its school record 12th shutout of the season.

The Player of the Week honor is the first of Huffman’s career. Earlier in the day she was named first team All-ACC and the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.

The Cavaliers, ranked No. 4 nationally, are the No. 2 seed for the upcoming ACC Tournament at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Virginia (14-2-1) will meet Virginia Tech (11-7-0) in Wednesday’s first quarterfinal beginning at noon.
