CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia women’s rowing team is scheduled to participate in two competitions this weekend (Nov. 6-7).

On Saturday (Nov. 6), the Cavalier novice rowers scrimmage the Georgetown novices at the Rivanna Reservoir in Charlottesville. The men’s novice teams from both schools will also participate in the event. Competition begins at 10:15 a.m. and should conclude by noon.

On Sunday (Nov. 7), several Virginia women’s crews will travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Chase. Virginia is sending four varsity eight boats to compete in the open eight event. These crews will later divide into six doubles and five fours to compete in the open double and open four races. The women’s open eight competition commences at 1:00 p.m., the doubles event begins at 2:30 p.m, and the open four competition is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

The regatta is an invitational, three-mile long head-race hosted by Princeton University in conjunction with the Lake Carnegie Rowing Association. Varsity men’s and women’s collegiate crews are eligible to compete in the regatta, which is held on Lake Carnegie.

The Cavaliers enter this weekend’s events after a strong performance at the Head of the Charles Regatta on October 24. Virginia placed fourth in the youth eight event, fifth in the championship eight competition, and sixth in the championship four race. The regatta was held on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
