CHARLOTTESVILLE – – The Virginia women’s soccer team will be the No. 3 seed for the upcoming NCAA Tournament that begins this weekend. The Cavaliers will open at home Friday against James Madison with Duke and Virginia Commonwealth playing the other contest at Klockner Stadium.

The No. 3 seed is the highest in school history for the Cavaliers, who are making their 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 17th overall. Virginia has a 16-2-2 record and is coming off winning its first ACC Championship this past weekend.

“Right now the most important thing for us to do is concentrate on Friday,” said Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. “We are excited to be at home and play in front of our fans. We look forward to the challenge James Madison will provide us in the first game.”

The Cavaliers and the Dukes (11-7-3) played a regular season game on October 12 at Klockner Stadium, a game that Virginia won 5-0.
