Virginia's Mike Ballard Named ACC Pitcher Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia baseball player Mike Ballard (Virginia Beach. Va./Ocean Lakes) was named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week. Ballard, a third-year LHP for the Cavaliers, led UVa to a 2-0 victory over UNC-Wilmington on February 12th in his first pitching appearance since the 2003 season. The Virginia Beach, Va., native missed the 2004 campaign after having Tommy John surgery. Ballard pitched 7.0 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out a game-high six batters to post the win on the mound for Virginia.

Duke’s Adam Murray was named this week’s ACC Player of the Week.
