BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – The No. 52 ranked Virginia women’s tennis team posted a 5-2 win over No. 64 Marshall Friday afternoon at the Huntington Tennis Club. The win improves the Cavaliers’ record to 3-2 on the season.

Virginia fell behind early after the Thundering Herd (3-3) took the doubles point. Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) and Lori Stern (Ojai, Calif.) won at No. 2 doubles, but Marshall had already won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the point.

In singles, The Cavaliers rallied to take five of six singles matches to win the match. Diana Srebrovic (Oakville, Ont.) kept her dual match record perfect on the season with a straight set win at No. 1. James and Lauren Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) posted three set wins at No. 2 and No. 5 before Dora Bechliwanis (Etobicoke, Ont.) clinched the match by rallying for a three set win at No. 4. Lindsey Pereira (Arlington, Texas) notched the final point for the Cavaliers, winning a superbreaker at No. 6 singles.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, February 19 as play No. 43 South Alabama at the Huntington Tennis Club.
