Virginia Rowers Ranked Sixth In Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Virginia is ranked sixth in the preseason USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll.
Princeton is ranked first in the poll followed by Yale, Brown, Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia, California-Berkeley, Harvard, Washington and Tennessee.
Virginia opens its 2005 spring season on March 26 when the Cavaliers compete against Michigan and Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
The Cavaliers finished tied for sixth in the team competition at the 2004 NCAA Rowing Championships. UVa’s varsity four crew won the NCAA Championship in that event. Virginia’s second varsity eight crew won the Petite Final to finish seventh overall in that event and the Cavaliers’ first varsity eight finished ninth in that competition.
Virginia won its fifth consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Championship last spring, and also won the overall and South Region Championship at the Central/South Region Sprints.
