Virginia Stands 13th at Morris Williams Intercollegiate

AUSTIN, Texas – The Virginia men’s golf team stands 13th after the first two rounds of the Morris Williams Intercollegiate on Monday. Three teams have one hole yet to complete as darkness halted second round action. They will finish at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday followed by an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start for the third round.
Sixth-ranked Florida leads the field of 15 team with a six-under 570, while No. 1 Oklahoma State trails by 13 strokes with a 583 (+7). Host Texas is third with a 594 (+18). The Cavaliers shot two rounds of 310 for a 620 (+44) on the day.
Florida’s Richard Treis leads the individuals with a four-under 140. Teammate Matt Every and Texas’ Shaun Goodwin are tied for second with a two-under 142, while Florida’s Brett Stegmaier is fourth with a one-under 143.
Sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) paces Virginia with a 148 (+4) to tie for 15th. Junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) is tied for 37th with a 154 (+10), while junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) follows with a 159 (+15). Sophomore Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) carded a 160 (+16), and senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) rounded out the UVa scoring with a 168 (+24).
