CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 6 ranked Virginia women’s soccer team will host third round play of the 2005 NCAA Tournament this weekend when it faces No. 17 ranked Cal State Fullerton. The Cavaliers, seeded No. 2 in their quarter of the bracket, and the Titans, seeded No. 3, will meet Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Klockner Stadium.

The Cavaliers (17-5-1) are looking to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2001. Last weekend, Virginia defeated Liberty 4-0 and No. 14 Tennessee 3-0 in the first two rounds of the tournament. Virginia is 11-1-1 at Klockner Stadium this season, outscoring opponents 40-4 at home this year.

The Titans (19-3-0) enter the game on a school record 11-game win streak. The Big West Conference Champions reached the round of 16 for the first time in school history by downing UNLV 1-0 (in overtime) and No. 16 USC 3-1 at home last weekend. Sunday’s game will be the Titans’ first ever game in the Eastern Time Zone.

“We are excited about hosting a third round game on Sunday, not only for ourselves but more importantly for our fans who have been so supportive throughout the season,” said Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. “We know the success we have enjoyed at Klockner Stadium is in part a direct result of the support of our fans. Knowing this we hope we can get a huge crowd for our game this weekend. Charlottesville is a great soccer community and games like this are terrific opportunities for the community to enjoy collegiate women’s soccer at its highest level.”

Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for youth, seniors, and students from participating schools with ID. Tickets are available now at the UVa Ticket Office in Bryant Hall, open weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, ticket sales and gates at Klockner Stadium will open at noon.
