CHARLOTTESVILLE – Two members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were recognized when Soccer Buzz Magazine named the finalists for its National Player of the Year and National Freshman of the Year Awards. Fourth-year midfielder Sarah Huffman (Flower Mound, Texas) is one of the 15 finalists for National Player of the Year and first-year forward Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) is one of the 15 finalists for National Freshman of the Year.

Huffman, who was also a finalist for the award in 2004, has four goals and a team high eight assists this season. She was a first-team All-ACC selection this season and was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team.

Rostedt leads the Cavaliers in scoring with 11 goals and 27 points. She also has a team high four game-winning goals. She was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, second-team All-ACC, and to the ACC All-Tournament Team.

The winners of the awards will be announced in December.

Huffman, Rostedt, and the rest of the Cavaliers will return to action on Sunday, November 20 when they host Cal State Fullerton in a NCAA Third Round game at Klockner Stadium. Game time is 1:00 p.m. Tickets are available now at the UVa Ticket Office in Bryant Hall, open weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for youth, seniors, and students from participating schools with ID. On Sunday, ticket sales and gates at Klockner Stadium will open at noon.
