Virginia Wrestling Hosts North Carolina Friday Night

Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia Wrestling Team continues its homestand when the Cavaliers open Atlantic Coast Conference action against North Carolina and Virginia Tech this weekend at Memorial Gym. The Cavaliers (5-4, 0-0-0 ACC) host the Tar Heels (12-5-1, 0-0-1 ACC) Friday night at 7 p.m before facing Virginia Tech (0-11-0, 0-0-0) in Adelphia’s Commonwealth Challenge.
Red-shirt freshman Eric Albright continues to lead the team with 20 wins. Albright has won seven of his last eight matches. Sophomore Anthony Burke and freshman Brent Jones each have 16 wins on the season after Burke earned a 14-2 major decision win against Ohio State and Jones picked up his fifth pin of the season in the meet against the Buckeyes. Brent Jones is 8-1 in dual meet competition which leads the team, while Eric Albright is 7-1. Kyle Narkiewicz at 184 pounds is 6-2 in dual meets.
The Tar Heels (12-5-1, 0-0-1 ACC) are looking for the their first ACC win after tying NC State, 16-16. North Carolina last won a meet against Ohio State, 28-13, at the Virginia Duals. UNC has dropped three of their last four. Heavyweight Spencer Nadolsky leads the team having posted a 33-2 record. He ranks No. 12 nationally in the heavyweight division.
