On Tap This Week: The Cavaliers conclude their four-match homestand this weekend as they host a pair of top 25 foes from the Big XII. On Friday night, Virginia hosts No. 24 Texas A&M before welcoming No. 20 Texas on Sunday morning. Virginia is coming off a pair of 6-1 wins last weekend against Baylor and Michigan. The Aggies are looking for their first win of the season after being upset at Minnesota and Boise State to open the season. Texas enters the weekend 2-0 after wins against Minnesota and Arkansas.

Against The Aggies: Friday’s match is the second all-time meeting between the schools. Last season, Virginia scored a 4-3 win over Texas A&M in College Station. The Aggies led that match 3-2 before the Cavaliers rallied for the win. The match was tied when Darrin Cohen won at No. 5 as Mohamed Dakki was defaulted and Doug Stewart clinched the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 win over Ante Matijevic.

Against The Longhorns: Sunday’s match is the third all-time meeting between the schools with Virginia winning each of the previous meetings. Last season, the Cavaliers took a 4-3 win in Austin and in 2004, Virginia downed Texas 5-2 at the Snyder Tennis Center.

Tough Schedule Continues: The challenging schedule for the Cavaliers continue this weekend with another pair of top 25 foes. Texas A&M and Texas mark the fifth and sixth top 25 opponents Virginia has already played this season. Virginia enters the weekend leading the nation in matches against top 25 opponents (4), matches against ranked opponents (8) and ranked wins (6). Overall, 21 of Virginia 23 opponents this season are currently ranked (only ACC foes Boston College and Maryland are not), and among those 21, four are currently in the top ten, six in the top 20, and 12 in the top 30. UVa will have a chance to play even more highly ranked opponents at National Team Indoors next week.
