CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia women’s tennis player Douglas Wink (Greensboro, N.C.) was named ACC Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week conference officials announced Monday. Wink, who helped lead the Cavaliers to their first ever top ten win over Duke on Saturday, shares the award with Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech.

In Saturday’s historic win over the No. 10 Blue Devils, Wink defeated Daniela Bercek, the nation’s No. 2 ranked player, 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position. In doubles, Wink and Rachel DelPriore (Williamsville, N.Y.) helped Virginia secure the doubles point with their 8-6 win over Melissa Mang and Jennifer Zika.

On Sunday, Wink nearly got another highly ranked win as she fell in three sets to No. 32 ranked Jenna Long of North Carolina. In doubles against the Tar Heels, Wink and DelPriore downed Cailtin Collins and Laura Recihert 8-0 at the No. 2 position.

The honor is the first of Wink’s career and the second ACC Player of the Week for the Cavaliers this season. Kristen James (Clifton, Va.) was honored on January 30.

The Cavaliers will return to action this weekend as they visit NC State on Saturday and Wake Forest on Sunday.
