EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Virginia women’s soccer team concluded its 2006 exhibition schedule Friday with a 0-0 tie at Michigan State Friday afternoon. The match was the final part of the Cavaliers’ week-long preseason camp in Michigan.

In the contest, the Cavaliers outshot the Spartans 15-6. The Cavaliers’ had several quality scoring chances, but Spartan keeper Lauren Sinacola made nine saves to keep the game scoreless. In the 48th minute, Kelly Quinn’s (Dublin, Ohio) shot beat Sinacola, but struck the crossbar. Celeste Miles (Garland, Texas) played all 90 minutes in goal for Virginia, making three saves to post the shutout.

Virginia opens the regular season on Friday, August 25 as they host Syracuse at Klöckner Stadium. The game is set for 5 p.m. and is the first contest of a Virginia soccer doubleheader. The Virginia men’s soccer team will open their season in the second game, as they host Davidson.
