Charlottesville, VA – The ninth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team will play at the 31st annual Lady Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 6-8 at UNC’s Finley Golf Course, which features a par 72, 6,285-yard layout. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday with teams starting off both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. There will be a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The field of 18 teams includes 10 that are ranked in the top 20 in the latest Golfweek rankings. In addition to host North Carolina, which is ranked 14th, the field includes Duke (No. 2), Auburn (No. 5), Wake Forest (No. 8), Florida State (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 15), Ohio State (No. 16), Vanderbilt (No. 18), Oklahoma State (No. 11), LSU (No. 17), South Carolina (No. 28), Texas A&M (No. 38), NC?State (No. 44), College of Charleston, Texas and Tulsa.

Virginia’s lineup will include Leah Wigger, Jennie Arseneault, Rachel Smith, Kristen Simpson and freshman Whitney Neuhauser, who will be playing in her first tournament.

Wigger, who is ranked 10th in Golfweek’s individual standings, leads UVa with a 72.33 stroke average. She is coming off a second-place showing at the Fall Preview where UVa was 10th in an 18-team field. Arseneault is 25th in the Golfweek standings and second on the team with a 72.83 stroke average. She placed 10th at the Fall Preview, the first top-10 showing in her two-year UVa career.
