UVa Golfers Heat Up at Blustery Mason Rudolph

Franklin, TN – The Virginia men’s golf team turned in the second best team score of the day to move up the leaderboard to 10th after 36 holes of play at Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The Cavaliers posted a second round score 6-over 294, an 18-shot improvement over their opening round effort.

For the second day in a row temperatures were in the low 50s and winds gusted up to 20 miles per hour on the Ironhorse Course.

Leading the UVa charge was sophomore Conrad Von Borsig, who posted a 1-under 71 to move into the top-10 at 2-over 146. Eamonn McLoughlin shot even par 72 and improved to 27th overall at 151. Kyle Stough’s 76 moved him up to 40th at 153. Greg Carlin managed a 75 Monday and is 57th at 156. Preston Yates shot 78 and is 67th at 160.

Co-leaders after Sunday’s first round, Ole Miss edged Vanderbilt by a single stroke on Monday to a narrow lead in the team competition. North Florida stands four strokes off the lead, with Rice, Middle Tennessee State and Memphis rounding out the top six.

Vanderbilt senior Luke List shot a four-under-par 68 Monday to take a one-stroke lead in medalist play. List stands at three-under 141 for the tournament, just ahead of Mercer’s Silas Sutton and Rice’s Kaz Hoffman.

The final round takes place Tuesday.
