Charlottesville, VA – The ninth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team plays its final tournament of the fall this weekend at UNC-Wilmington’s Landfall Tradition Invitational. The 12-team field also includes Michigan, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 16 New Mexico, UNC Greensboro, NC State, No. 25 Ohio State, Penn State, South Florida, Tulsa and No. 13 Wake Forest.

The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,115-yard Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. Teams will tee off starting at 8:15 a.m. Friday and Saturday and at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Cavalier lineup includes Leah Wigger, Jennie Arseneault, Rachel Smith, Lauren Mielbrecht and Whitney Neuhauser.

Wigger enters the tournament ranked seventh in the latest Golfweek standings while Arseneault is 14th in the poll. Wigger, who had led UVa in all three fall events, tops the team with a 72.55 stroke average. Arseneault, who had top-10 finishes in her last two outings, is second on the team at 73.00.

The Landfall Tradition allows UVa fourth-year coach Jan Mann to return to Wilmington where she directed the Seahawk program for eight seasons before starting the Cavalier program. She led UNC Wilmington to its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2002 as well as to the Big South Conference championship. She was named the 2002 Big South Coach of the Year.
