CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia sophomore forward Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) was named ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week conference officials announced Monday. Rostedt was honored for her two-goal performance in the Cavaliers’ 3-2 overtime win at N.C. State on Saturday.

In the regular season finale for the Cavaliers against the Wolfpack, Rostedt opened the scoring in the ninth minute of play as she blasted a shot from the top of the box into the net to give Virginia an early 1-0 lead. The contest would end up being tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. Rostedt snapped the deadlock in the 95th minute as she stole a ball, dribbled to 20 yards out and fired a shot into the lower corner for the golden goal that gave Virginia the win.

Rostedt leads the Cavaliers with eight goals this season, four of which are game-winners. The honor is the second of the season for Rostedt, who was also honored on September 25 after scoring the game-winning goals against Wake Forest and Duke. The honor is also her third career ACC Player of the Week accolade.

Rostedt and the Cavaliers (10-6-2, 5-4-1) will travel to Cary, N.C. this week for the ACC Tournament. The No. 6 seeded Cavaliers meet No. 3 seed Wake Forest in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday. Game time at the SAS Soccer Stadium is 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast online by ACCSelect.
