CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Third-year Virginia softball player Lindsey Preuss (La Plata, Md./La Plata) was the recipient of Intermediate Honors at UVa’s Fall Convocation for her excellence in academics. Preuss is enrolled in the McIntire School of Commerce.

Intermediate Honors are bestowed upon the top 20 percent of those students who have earned 60 credits of course work at the University during their first two years. The computation is based upon the cumulative grade point average at the end of the fourth semester. The notation “Intermediate Honors” is also placed on the student’s official academic record and the students are recognized with a ceremony in University Hall.

Preuss, who plays outfield, was only of Virginia’s leading hitters in 2006. She posted a .281 (38-135) batting average with 23 runs scored and 15 RBI. Preuss led UVa with a career-best 10 doubles and also had a career-high three home runs.

Virginia opens its 2007 season by competing in the USF Best Western Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
