CHARLOTTESVILLE – Five members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were honored as SoccerBuzz Magazine announced its All-Mid Atlantic Region Teams. Sophomore forward Jess Rostedt (Kent, Ohio) and junior defender Becky Sauerbrunn (St. Louis, Mo.) were named to the first team. Sophomore defender Nikki Krzysik (Clifton, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Jen Redmond (Morristown, N.J.) were named to the second team, while Caitlin Miskel (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named to the All-Freshman team.

For Sauerbrunn, it is her third first team All-Region honor from SoccerBuzz. In 2006, she played every minute of the season as a central defender for the Cavaliers, and anchored a defense that allowed just 17 goals this season, while posting 10 shutouts.

The first-team All-Region honor is the second of Rostedt’s career. She led the Cavaliers in scoring this season with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. She accumulated those numbers despite missing the first four games of the season while playing for the United States at the U-20 World Championships in Russia.

Krzysik and Redmond both garnered All-Region honors from SoccerBuzz for the first time in their careers. Krzysik had one assists while starting the final 18 games of the season after missing the first four playing for the U-20 team in Russia. Redmond was second on the team in scoring this season with four goals and seven assists for 15 points.

Miskel earned All-Freshman accolades after posting three goals and four assists for 10 points in her rookie campaign.

SoccerBuzz will announce its All-American teams later in the week.
