Sauerbrunn Named SoccerBuzz All-American

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Cavalier junior defender Becky Sauerbrunn (St. Louis, Mo.) was named a third-team All-American by SoccerBuzz Magazine, the publication announced Wednesday. It is the second All-America honor for Sauerbrunn this season, as she was named a second team All-American by the NSCAA.

In 2006, Sauerbrunn played every minute of the season as a central defender for the Cavaliers, and anchored a defense that allowed just 17 goals this season, while posting 10 shutouts. She was honored as an All-American by SoccerBuzz for the third time, as she was a second team selection in 2003 and an honorable mention selection in 2005.

Sauerbrunn is among the 19 players on this year’s squad with eligibility remaining for next year.
