THIS WEEK
Virginia hits the road for two ACC games to close out its three-game week. The first stop is NC State on Thursday, Jan. 25 for a 7 p.m. contest at Reynolds Coliseum. ACC Select will televise the game live on the internet.

The Cavaliers then travel to Tallahassee to take on Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 28. SunSports will televise the game, beginning at 2 p.m., from the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

SCOUTING NC STATE
The Wolfpack, under the guidance of interim head coach Stephanie Glance, stand 13-7 overall and 2-3 in ACC play after an 86-65 loss to No. 2 North Carolina on Jan. 21. Junior forward Khadijah Whittington paces NCSU with 10.8 ppg and 10.3 rpg, while sophomore guard Shayla Fields follows closely with 10.7 ppg.

In her 32nd season at NC State, head coach Kay Yow has been on a leave of absence since November to continue her battle against breast cancer. Following good news from her doctors, Yow will return to the sidelines for the remainder of the season. Her first game back will be against the Cavaliers.

Yow and UVa’s Debbie Ryan are the ACC’s two veteran coaches. In ACC games, Ryan holds a 10-game advantage over Yow, standing 273-128 in 30 seasons of ACC play. Yow stands 263-147 in 32 years of ACC play.

SERIES VS. WOLFPACK
Virginia leads NC State in series history, 33-28. Last season, the teams met just once as the No. 25 Wolfpack claimed a 73-63 win at University Hall on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006. In that game, UVa’s Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) racked up a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

LAST OUTING
Virginia dropped its Commonwealth Challenge game to intra-state rival Virginia Tech, 60-58, at John Paul Jones Arena on Monday night after leading the entire contest until the last shot.

Freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) paced UVa with her second career double-double of 17 points and a career-best 11 rebounds. Sophomore Lyndra Littles (Washington, D.C.) followed with 14 points, while senior Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) added 10 points.

The 14-point lead is the largest the Cavaliers have given up in a loss this season and at JPJA. Overall, Tech out-rebounded Virginia, 39-35.
