Cavalier Women's Swimming and Diving Team Downs Richmond

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia women’s swimming and diving team topped Richmond 123-110 Wednesday night at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The Cavaliers improve to 6-3 on the season with the victory.
The team won eight of the first nine events, before exhibitioning the final four events. Jackie Apple (New Albany, Ohio) won both diving events, with a score of 238.80 the one-meter, and a score of 221.85 in the third-meter event. Rory Schmidt (Phoenix, Ariz.) took first place in the 1000 free, while Jess Lewis (Allentown, Pa.) won the 200 free (1:50.84). In the 50 free, Stephanie Glover (Raleigh, N.C.) won with a time of 23.95. Erin Corgan (Marietta, Ga.) swam a season-best 2:04.09 to win the 200 I.M. Anne Dawson (Annapolis, Md.) took first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.71. The winner of the 100 free was Amber Bialas (Virginia Beach, Va.), in a time of 52.35. Mei Christensen (Reston, Va.) scored an exhibition win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.52. Jenn Narum (Pleasanton, Calif.) had an exhibition win in the 500 free (4:56.61). To conclude the meet, the Cavaliers had an exhibition win in the 200 free relay, as Katy Bland (Raleigh, N.C.), Bialas, Jenna Brick (Culpeper, Va.), and Megan Evo (Beverly Hills, Mich.) won in 1:36.26.
The Cavalier men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams close out the regular season on Saturday as they host Maryland. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Aquatic and Fitness Center and will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.
