NEW YORK, N.Y. – Jan Foerster (Berlin, Germany) ran an 8:02.54 over 3000m today at the New Balance Invitational and qualified provisionally for the NCAA meet. His time moves him up to the No. 2 slot all-time in Virginia history and he is just eight seconds behind the school record of 7:54.90 set by Kris Herdt in 1987, giving him the fastest time in 20 years.
Foester’s teammates in the 3K also fared well, as Andy Biladeau (Lutz, Fla.) finished eighth in the College Division, running a personal best 8:15.81. Alex Tatu (Chester, Va.) won his heat in 8:18.80, while teammate Andrew Jesien (Bethesda, Md.) , running in the first heat, just nipped Tatu in the final standings with his 8:18.53.
