The men’s tennis team opens play at the National Team Indoor Championships tomorrow at the Midtown Tennis Center in Chicago, Ill. The No. 3 Cavaliers will face No. 18 Texas in the opening round, at 9:00 a.m. CT. Virginia comes into the NTI with a 6-0 record, having just defeated No. 23 Michigan 5-2, at the Boyd Tinsley Courts last Saturday, Feb. 10. Texas comes into the match with a record of 3-1.

The Cavaliers fell to Texas, 4-3, last year in Charlottesville as Virginia swept the doubles matches but lost four of the six singles matches. Texas has two players ranked in the top 100 singles this year with junior Milan Mihailovic and freshmen Rook Schellenberg. Depending on the outcome of the match, UVa will face either Boise State or the University of Mississippi in its second match. All teams are guaranteed three matches. A link for live scoring for all the matches can be found on the virginiasports.com schedule page.

Last year at National Indoors, the Cavaliers fell to tournament host, Washington, and Arkansas, before defeating Colorado, 4-0, to complete their matches. The win against Colorado began a 10 match winning streak for Virginia.

After the completion of National Indoors, the Cavaliers will return home to face No. 10 Pepperdine on Feb. 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Boars Head Sports Club.
