CHARLOTTESVILLE – Sophomore shortstop Greg Miclat (Concord, N.C.) was named ACC Baseball Player of the Week conference officials announced Monday. Miclat went 9-for-10 on the weekend, leading the Cavaliers to a pair of wins over George Washington.

In Saturday’s 11-0 win over the Colonials, Miclat went 4-for-5 at the plate, with two triples. He drove in three runs, scored a run, and had a stolen base. On Sunday, Miclat went 5-for-5 in Virginia’s 11-1 win over George Washington. He had a double and a triple, while scoring two runs and driving in two. He also stole three bases on Sunday.

For the week, he hit .900 with four extra bases hits (one double, three triples). He was 4-4 in stolen base attempts, scored three runs, and had five RBIs.

It was the first honor of Miclat’s career and the first for a Cavalier this season.

The Cavaliers (4-1) will continue its homestand on Monday, with the final game of the series against the Colonials. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Davenport Field. Freshman Matt Packer (0-0, 3.86 ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Cavaliers.
