CHARLOTTESVILLE – The University of Virginia baseball team continues its 12-game homestand as it hosts VMI at Davenport Field. The seventh-ranked Cavaliers (10-1) will face the Keydets (5-2), with first pitch set for 4 p.m.

The Cavaliers are riding an eight-game win streak, posting an undefeated record at home this year. Last weekend they swept a three-game series with Bucknell, 3-0, 2-0, and 13-2, capping an eight-game in eight-day span.

Last weekend split a pair of games with Niagara. The Keydets fell 8-1 on Friday, before winning 8-4 on Saturday. Their game on Sunday was cancelled due to the weather.

Virginia will start freshman left-hander Neal Davis (Baltimore, Md.). Davis is 1-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA. It is his second career start, as he got the win in Virginia’s 12-0 victory over Coppin State last week. VMI will start sophomore Travis Smink (0-1, 10.12), who lost his only start of the season at Florida on February 11.

Virginia will conclude its 12-game homestand this weekend with a three-game set against Delaware.
