Virginia’s Jeff McClurg vaulted 15′ 3″, his personal best mark, and won the George Mason Spring Classic today (Mar. 31) in Fairfax. McClurg topped his own best mark by two inches and took the title on fewest misses. The Cavaliers also won the triple jump competition as All-American Tomika Ferguson sailed 12.76m (41′ 10.5″).

Virginia swept the hammer competition as assistant coach Carrie Lane won the title with her 168′ 6″, followed by her protégées Amy Bilmanis (153′ 1″) and Alexa Manning, who threw a personal-best 151′ 9″. Manning also took third in the shot put with her 45′ 3.75″ while Bilmanis was fifth in the discus with a 136′ 1″.

Ferguson led a 3-5 finish in the long jump, leaping an 18′ 8.75″ while teammate Katie Tershel jumped 18′ 2.5″. Ferguson also finished sixth in the 100m dash. She ran a 12.36 in the preliminary round to advance to the finals.
