CHARLOTTESVILLE– The fourth ranked Virginia women’s soccer team opens conference play on Thursday as it visits Duke. Game time at Koskinen Stadium in Durham is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will be broadcast live on the web by ACC Select.

The Cavaliers (6-1-1) enter the game the winners of four in a row and on a five game unbeaten streak. Last week, Virginia closed out its non-conference schedule with a pair of wins over intrastate rivals, downing Liberty 5-0 and No. 24 William & Mary 1-0 in double overtime. Virginia has posted shutouts in seven of its eight games this season, despite the fact that six of those eight games have come against ranked opponents.

The Blue Devils (5-1-2) have won four consecutive games, including wins over San Francisco (4-0) and Ohio State (2-1) last weekend in their home tournament. Duke is led in scoring by Elisabeth Redmond, the younger sister of Cavalier midfielder Jen Redmond.

Virginia is looking for its fifth consecutive win in ACC openers. Last year, the Cavaliers topped Wake Forest 2-1 at Klckner Stadium in their conference opener.

The Cavaliers will travel to No. 23 Wake Forest on Sunday before returning home for their ACC home opener on October 4 against No. 12 Florida State.
