CHARLOTTESVILLE– The fifth ranked Virginia women’s soccer team opens the home portion of its ACC schedule on Thursday as it hosts No. 22 Florida State. Game time at Klckner Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live online by ACC Select.

The Cavaliers (7-1-2, 1-0-1 ACC) enter the game on a seven-game unbeaten streak. Virginia opened ACC play last week with a pair of road games, a 2-0 win over Duke on Thursday and a 0-0 draw at No. 23 Wake Forest on Sunday. The games extended the Cavaliers’ shutout streak to seven consecutive games and 766 minutes, both school records.

The Seminoles (6-3-1, 1-1-0 ACC) opened their conference schedule last week by splitting a pair of home games. Florida State lost to North Carolina 2-1 in overtime on Thursday before rebounding for a 4-1 win over NC State on Sunday.

Thursday’s game features a matchup of two teams that rank among the national stat leaders. Florida State leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging 4.40 goals per game this season. Virginia is the national leader with nine shutouts in 10 games this season and ranks third with a 0.188 goals against average.

Virginia and Florida State are meeting for the 16th time on Thursday, with Virginia holding a 13-0-2 advantage in the series. Last year, the teams played to a scoreless draw in Tallahassee.

The Cavaliers will close out the two-game homestand on Sunday when they host Miami. The Hurricanes topped NC State and North Carolina last week and enter the week leading the ACC with a 2-0-0 record. Game time Sunday at Klckner Stadium is slated for 2 p.m.
