Heineking helped the Cavaliers finish fourth at the Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, a finish that vaulted the Virginia men’s cross country team to the No. 11 spot in the national poll. A true first-year, Heineking was the second rookie to cross the line at the Pre-Nationals meet, where he finished 33rd overall.

My favorite place to run: Hamden, Ohio, because it’s got a lot of places to run and there’s not really a whole lot going on out there, so it’s easy to find some quiet places to run.

My favorite pre-race meal: Pasta
If I didn’t run, I would be: Going to a local Ohio college with all of my friends.
